***Easel.ly is having some technical difficulties***
When Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Gonzales' class attempted to make their poster on Easil.ly on Monday we ran into a lot of technical difficulties. Some students couldn't upload any photos onto their artboard, others couldn't save their work, and some couldn't even type! Yikes!
What I am going to try and do is find another website that is like Easil.ly so we can complete our poster project. In the meantime, I will be showing you how to edit photos using Pixlr. Pixlr is like Photoshop but much easier to use.
Instead of working on Easel.ly this week you will be practicing how to edit photos on a picture taken from Google Images. Find and save multiple images. Save them on to your Desktop.
This is Pixlr. There are plenty of tools to choose from to make your picture as unique and as beautiful as you want.

ASSIGNMENT:
This is your project for the next two weeks.
1. You are to find up to 3 images on Google Images.
2. Create a Folder on your Desktop and rename it "Your Name Pixlr Project" (Example "MsAgnes Pixlr Project").
3. Save your images in that folder.
4. Rename them "Before 1", "Before 2", and "Before 3". These are named "Before 1, 2, and 3" because I want to see what the picture looked like before you edited them.
Once you have your images, you are to make each photo completely different from the original. Add text, add a border, add an overlay or a filter. Be creative. Art is what you make it. There's not going wrong with art.
Once you finish one picture...
5. Save it in your folder.
6. Rename the images "After 1", "After 2", and "After 3". They are named "After 1, 2, and 3" because this lets me know that these images are the edited pictures. The after pictures.

- Pick a topic. Any topic: puppies, shoes, how to make your favorite cupcake or cookie, Michael Jordon vs. LeBron James. Seriously, pick anything.
- What I'll be looking for is how you organize your thoughts and ideas together in your poster.
- You are going to create this poster based on your topic on Easel.ly.
- You will need a username and password to log on. Click on the image above to begin!
Below are some samples I created to get your ideas going.
![Picture](/uploads/2/2/2/7/22278670/_4408218_orig.png)
Here is an example of a recipe poster for a chocolate chip cookie. There's a title stating what my poster is about, I have two different fonts in my title, I also lowercased all of the O's in "Chocolate Chip Cookies", I wrote a quick statement about my love for cookies and where I got the recipe, the ingredients and directions are organized in two columns, and a picture of the end product is at the end. Keep it clean.
You poster doesn't need to be filled with words and pictures. Avoid too adding too many pictures and too many words because it will just looked cluttered and busy.

After you fiddle around with a story or two on Explor-eBook, log on to IXL and practice math.

- Middle - events leading to the climax!
- End/Conclusion: here you're winding down the story. How does it end? Happily ever after or not? What's the theme? Do your characters learn any important lessons?

- Another, quicker, short-hand way to save your work is to just press and hold "CTRL" and then type "S" from your keyboard. Easy, peazy, lemon squeezy, right?? :)
WEEK 6 :: September 15 - September 19
You are to write me a short story, about a half a page to a page long (more if you'd like.) If you are not finished, you can finish it next week.
Prompt:
Image you are sailing away at sea to somewhere, anywhere, it's up to you (it's your story!) All of a sudden the bright, sunny blue sky turns dark with black clouds. The sea begins to get so choppy that your shipmates begin to get sea sick. Then, fat raindrops begin to fall. Your men are scrambling on the deck to save themselves from falling overboard. Out in the distance you a dark figure appear. It seems to be getting closer and closer to your ship and even with the ship rocking hard and the rain pounding at your faces, everyone stops what they're doing to look at a massive dark figure approaching. Then the figure stops right beside your ship. It had to be about 10 stories high. It opens its mouth revealing its rotting, yellow teeth and blood, red tongue. Then all of a sudden… darkness. The ship stops rocking, the rain stops falling. Everything is still. One of your shipmates turns on a lantern to make it easier to see. Then the smell of something rotten creeps into your nose. You cover your nose as you look over the side of your ship and see dead fish, whales, half eaten sharks, and pieces of what looks to be parts of a ship float by. That's when you and your men realize you're inside the belly of the beast. (Kind of like Pinocchio).
Continue and finish this story.
Things to think about…
Who are you? Who are your men? Pirates? Sailors?
Where were you headed? Do you have a husband or wife or boyfriend or girlfriend you were trying to get to or rescue? Or were you trying to sail halfway across the world to meet your parents for dinner?
What do you see while you're sailing? What do you feel? What do you smell? What do you taste?
What swallowed you and your men? A monster? A whale? A shark? An ancient sea creature no one has ever seen or captured?
What do you do? How do you escape? Do you escape?
Use descriptive words. Paint a picture in a my with your words. I would to see and feel what your characters are experiencing.
Story starters you can use…
This is your story. Make it your own. You can change the beginning of the story if you'd like if you want to take it to another direction.
This is how I want the top of your paper to look. Please don't adjust your font style, size, and color this week.
Save to the DESKTOP as your first and last initial, then beast.
Example, if your name is John Smith, your initials are JS.
Then you would name it JS Beast.
If you remember how to drop it in to your teacher's computer lab folder, please do so under Week 6. If not, save to the desktop!
