Happy Halloween week my creepy, little kindergarteners!
Creepy Candy is a game where you have to search through the house to find candy. You'll have to use your arrow keys to move Ryan through the mouse and press on the Space Bar to investigate objects and collect keys. There are also locked doors you will have to open to get through. But you don't use just any keys to open them. You have to match the number on the keys to the numbers on the doors to get through.
Good luck and watch for menacing monsters! They will send you back to the front door. Boo!!! |
In Keyboard Climber you will have to move the monkey up the trees by pressing on the right letters that are on the branches. But you have to type quickly or a coconut will fall on your monkey's head sending you to start from the beginning!

Oh, and by the way, you can also play the games from Week 3 if you'd like. Happy clicking :)
I'll be doing "My First Clicks with Boowa and Kwala". It's a great mouse introductory lesson for the little ones who are just starting out on the computer. The directions sound pretty darn simple, but these bare bone basic skills are essential to doing practically everything on the computer!

SKILLS: Basic mouse maneuvering skills practiced.
|

|
Week 3 :: August 25 - August 29
DIRECTIONS: Peter Pickle is a young pickle who loves to pop bubbles! Then again, who doesn't?! Move your mouse to move Peter Pickle to help him pop those bubbles. Click to make him jump! Pop 5 bubbles and you win! Click "Play Again" to play it again!
|
SKILLS: Basic moving the mouse and clicking is exercised in this game. Students will need to think spatially as they predict where Peter Pickle's trajectory when they make him jump to pop those bubbles. Basic hand-eye coordination is also introduced.
|
DIRECTIONS: It's wintertime and Shoshi is out ready to eat some snowflakes! Have you ever gone outside while it was snowing and caught a snowflake or two on your tongue?
Help this little guy catch some flakes by moving him back and forth. Click the mouse once to open his mouth. Click it again to close it. Don't keep his mouth open all the time or bugs are going to land on his tongue - yuck! You will lose your stars! |
SKILLS: Basic mouse control skills -moving the cursor and clicking - are practiced in this game as well. It also helps students work on their hand-eye coordination and timing skills as they try and move Shoshi to the right place at the right time to get that snowflake to land on his tongue! They also learn to coordinate their clicks with the movement of objects in the game so that Shoshi's mouth is only open when it needs to be - or that bug will land on his tongue making you lose those stars!
|
DIRECTIONS: Ready for some high-flying fun? Mr. Marble loves to put on his propeller and go for a spin! While he flies through the air, help him pop balloons for a laugh. But watch out – he only wants to pop balloons of a certain color! Pop the color of the balloons that are the same color of his hat. Popping the wrong color makes him very sad.
Match the colors three times in a row to win the game, but pop the wrong color balloon and you’ll have to start over! |
SKILLS: This game uses simple cursor-control skills combined with color-matching and basic spatial reasoning. Players will have to remember which color to look for, keep out of the way of falling balloons, and then move into position at just the right time in order to win.
|
DIRECTIONS: Orwell is a very special little pig. Using his springy tail and his cardboard wings, he can do what most pigs only dream about: he can fly! Help guide Orwell to the flavorful flying fruits by bouncing him from cloud to cloud.
Click to get him started, then use the mouse to control his flight. But be careful…Orwell’s wings don’t work too well, and if he doesn’t land on a cloud he’ll take quite a tumble! Collect five snacks without falling down to complete the game. |
SKILLS: Students use basic cursor control, timing, and hand-eye coordination to move their character up through the clouds. Accurate judgement of simulated distances and trajectories is essential for success, as is hand-eye coordination. Students also use their planning skills to determine which snacks Orwell can get without falling, and which ones he must leave behind.
